Lake Nasser is a huge artificial lake that extends from southern Egypt to northern Sudan. The lake came into existence due to the construction of the Aswan Dam between 1958 and 1970. The larger portion of the lake is called as Lake Nasser that lies in Egypt while in Sudan it is called Lake Nubia. The 550 km long and 35 km wide lake is spread over a total surface area of 5250 sq km and has the storage capacity of 157 km cube.
The luxury-liner was named Eugenie after the Empress Eugenie of France who attended the opening ceremony of the Suez Canal in 1869 AD. Built in 1993, Eugenie is the first ship to cruise on the Lake Nasser. The ship measures 74 m in length and weighs 1000 tons. The beautiful interiors of the ship are designed by Amir Khalil.
Eugenie features 50 cabins measuring 21 m sq each, De Maria suite measuring 42 m sq and Imperative Suite measuring 100 m sq. the tastefully appointed cabins are equipped with air-conditioning, mini bar/fridge, hairdryer and attached bathroom. Most of the cabins are also provided with a balcony.
