Lake Nasser is a huge artificial lake that extends from southern Egypt to northern Sudan. The lake came into existence due to the construction of the Aswan Dam between 1958 and 1970. The larger portion of the lake is called as Lake Nasser that lies in Egypt while in Sudan it is called Lake Nubia. The 550 km long and 35 km wide lake is spread over a total surface area of 5250 sq km and has the storage capacity of 157 km cube.
Nubian Sea cruises on the Lake Nasser and explores the portion of lower Nubia, which had become inaccessible due to construction of the High Dam at Aswan. Nubian Sea is particularly designed to ply on the Lake Nasser. The first cruise was started in the year 1996. The ship measures 86 m in length, 14.6 m in width and 1.4 m in draught.
Nubian Sea features 66 cabins measuring 22 m sq and 4 suites measuring 45 m sq accommodating up to 166 guests comfortably. The cabins are equipped with air-conditioning, central music, radio, internal telephone and private bathroom.
Nubian Sea has a water purification system, radar and fire proof and soundproof ceilings and walls. The restaurant has waiter service as well as buffet service where all the guests can be accommodated at one time. The spacious lounge is equipped with a television and dance floor. It is the place to relax over some cool drinks.
There are three decks, namely, lower deck, middle deck and upper deck on Nubian Sea. The upper deck also has the swimming pool, chairs and sun loungers. The other amenities in this first class luxury-liner are reception with 24-hour service desk, billiards table, lounge bar with dance floor, mini health center, boutique, hairdresser and safety deposit box .
