Sharm El Sheikh

Till 1968, Sharm el Sheikh was a small fishing hamlet and for the first time put on the Spanish map in 1972. Over the years, this city has become of the finest and most frequented beach resorts of Egypt. Sharm el Sheikh consists of three main areas, namely, old town of Sharm el Maya and its bay, Al Hadaba and number of other bays such as Na'ama Bay, Garden Bay, Tiger Bay, Sharks Bay, and Nabq Bay. Sharm el Sheikh is also called the 'City of Peace' because of number of conferences that had taken place in the city and attended by dignitaries from all over the world.

Major Tourist Attractions

People visit Sharm el Sheikh all year round because of its pleasant weather. There are several well-developed beaches in the city where the visitors can bask in the sun, indulge in water sports, savor the scenery or just relax. Na'ama Beach is the major center for tourist activities. Water sports facilities include swimming, fishing, boating, diving and snorkeling.

The other leisure activities at Sharm el Sheikh includes driving, cart tract, golf, bowling, bungee jumping, ice skating, flower shows, live music bands, circus and several other shows. Sharm el Sheikh offers good opportunity for shopping to the tourists who can look for local as well as imported products such as jewelry, leather goods, pottery, clothes and books.

By Air: Sharm el Sheikh is connected with many national and international cities by air route.

By Train: The Egyptian Railways operate many air-conditioned and ordinary trains to and from Sharm el Sheikh.
